2024 Legislative Session Recap with Wil Ervin
The 2024 Legislative Session has finally come to a close. As we look back at this 125+ day session, there were some really good bills passed, but there were also a lot of things left on the table. Generally, we saw a lot of progress made across our three pillars, but we still have a long way to go to create a Mississippi where every citizen can rise.
In this episode, host Grant Callen interviews Wil Ervin, Senior Vice President of Empower Mississippi, about the good, the bad, and the ugly from this session. We discussed the biggest headlines, including the new education funding formula, Medicaid expansion, and the ballot initiative legislation. We also cover everything Empower worked on this session within our three areas of policy focus: education, work, and justice. Stick around to the end to hear Wil’s predictions about what issues are likely to come back in 2025.
